WHAT IS CBD?

CBD is a cannabinoid known as “Cannabidiol” which is a chemical compound derived from the cannabis plant. CBD is non-psychoactive meaning it has no mind-altering effects.

HOW DOES CBD WORK?

Our bodies have a biological system called the endocannabinoid system, which is made up of cannabinoid receptors located throughout the body. These cannabinoid receptors are classified as CB1 Receptors and CB2 Receptors. CB1 Receptors are mainly located in the brain and central nervous system, while CB2 Receptors are found in the immune system. In full spectrum CBD products, cannabinoids bind to CB1 and CB2 Receptors directly, while CBD indirectly impacts both CB1 and CB2 receptors. By assisting our endocannabinoid system, CBD promotes homeostasis, reduces inflammation, and decreases pain. CBD’s indirect impact on our CB1 and CB2 Receptors help:

  • Activate TRPV1 Receptors which help control pain perception, inflammation, and body temperature.
  • Inhibit Fatty Acid Amide Hydrolase (FAAH) which creates higher levels of endocannabinoids like Anandamide, the bliss molecule.
